We are excited to announce our Miner Soccer Academy (MSA)! Our goals and objectives for the academy are to best serve our El Paso U6-U10 soccer community. As a staff we have identified a need for consistent, fun and age appropriate training.
It is our intention to keep player development as our number one priority and ensure that players are ready for select soccer at the appropriate time. We will do this by utilizing professional coaching and a professional curriculum that will challenge each age group. Our head coach staff will be made up of our UTEP coaching staff and the top local youth coaches. This initiative will allow us to meet another community need and have an improved player to coach ratio. The most important benefit to our training program is utilizing our UTEP players to help mentor and demonstrate aspects of our training.
Miner Soccer Academy Training Details:
Our first year of MSA will be a 6-week program with sessions every Monday from 5:45-7:00PM at University Field. The 1hr 15-minute session will allow us to address speed and agility, technical needs and player bravery with and without the ball. It is our goal that players will eventually graduate after the U10 spring season, with improved 1v1, 2v1, 1v2, attacking and defending knowledge.
The structure of MSA will allow all levels of participants; rec, AYSO, pre-club, and competitive players to train as an MSA participant once a week and still complete other team and soccer responsibilities the remainder of the week/weekend. It is our MAIN objective that this session would allow current coaches and teams to come watch and participate together with our staff. The sense of community that a well-organized and structured training program offers will greatly benefit players and parents.
